Top 3 Advantages of Hiring a Photography Company vs a Photographer

Hire Professional Photographer Company

In an earlier article, we talked about the difference between Hiring a Photographer vs a Professional Photographer.

This time we are diving into a similar but very different comparison of hiring a Photographer vs a Photography Company. These are two very different things.

Both a photographer and photography company are hired to shoot a job, whatever it is, wedding, family photos or what we do here at Infinite Eye - headshots, commercial/ corporate and sports - but there is so much more to a photography company.

Yes, anyone can pick up a camera and be a “photographer” (we talk about this in detail here), and that is all well and good but what happens if that photographer is sick or even gets an offer for a “bigger-better” shoot and is no longer able to capture images for you?

Not a problem if it’s family photos and you can reschedule. Yes, it’s inconvenient but it’s all good.

But what if you can’t reschedule. What if this is a one-time deal and there is no getting the images another day or an hour latter?

It’s a BIG problem if:

  • Your business is planning headshot during that one day a year when everyone comes together for a teambuilding day

  • Your event is hours away and you are scrambling to find someone, anyone with a “nice camera”

  • Your headshot was booked and is needed for a presentation you are giving and now you can’t find and book another session elsewhere

  • Your sports association Team Photos Day can’t happen now and you have 100’s of little athletes who will have to go without photos this season.

  • Enter any number of other scenarios where you are left hanging and scrambling after weeks of planning.

Here are the top three reasons why, if you want your Session to be successful, hiring a Photography Company is a smart planners choice

1) Experience

If you are hiring a photography company that is trusted and has been involved in similar photo shoots to what you are needing, then you are bringing in more than just a “nice camera”. You are bringing an experienced asset to your team! Ask them and I am sure they can tell you plenty of stories about similar set-ups they have done and lessons learned. They know a thing or two and can help you and your event/company/association plan a successful Session. Why not use that?

2) Process

With experience comes wisdom. And if the company you are bringing on is smart, they have systems to help them run their show. As a wise friend of mine says often, “Process makes perfect!” and he is 100% correct. Without a game plan, even the most talented players on a team will not succeed. A process creates quality and efficiency. Of course, you want those don’t you?

3) Built-in Backup Plan

Things happen and sometimes “it” hits the proverbial fan. As the saying goes, “If you fail to plan, your planning to fail.” Here at Infinite Eye we have backup plans for everything we do. We bring extra cameras in case the main camera breaks or worse is dropped!! (…don’t ask, yes it has happened…) We have extra lights and little devices that trigger the lights. Stuff happens and we have to be ready to adapt because the show must go on!

Hiring a Photography Company that has multiple backup cameras/lights/backdrops/etc. just makes sense. This also applies to the most valuable resource - People. If someone here gets sick or has a family emergency, we have others who can step in for them. For some jobs where multiple photographers are needed onsite, we actually have backups on standby just in case they are needed. A single photographer will not be able to provide this.

An established Photography Company is there when you need them - we have experience - work from a tried, tested and true process and have built-in backup plans when things happen.

Oh and one bonus advantage - Connections!! With Infinite Eye having been in the industry for more than a decade, we know and have worked with some great groups and can connect you to companies we trust. Even if you need something far away from photography, like plumbers or lawyers, we have trusted connections.
