The Gobo Project Launch
Happy April Fools Day - at least until mid-day - and “no joke” welcome to our launch of The Gobo Project.
Following true to what we want Gobo to be, it is time to share a story with you about how this thing called The Gobo Project got started.
It was January 13th, 2023 - yes, Friday the 13th - and I got an email.
Historically for us as a photography studio, January is typically slow. We use this time to plan out our next busy period, which is Spring, so right now, so I was cleaning up my email inbox.
The email was a second try to get a hold of me and I deleted the first one thinking it was SPAM of some kind. But just before I deleted this email, I stopped and read…
We'd like to share your entrepreneurship story for our digital magazine…
This caught my eye as I was thinking, during this slow time, “How can we connect with more people during slower times?” I looked into it and it seemed legit. The site had many other business professionals’ stories who had done the interview and I was able to learn about them and even looked up individuals in my area - greater Edmonton area. So I thought why not give it a try.
It said that the whole process would take about 10-15 mins.
Well, I got so into it that I enjoyed 4 hours of answering their list of questions. I enjoyed how I was able to read their question, type out a response, then go back and fine-tune it to say what I really wanted to share.
Once I was happy with it, I submitted it and in a few days, they got back to me and announced that my interview was now LIVE on their website which gets 50K+ visits per month. Of course, all of that 50 K are to see me!! - right?? No not really…. but it was an enjoyable experience for me to share my thoughts with a large group of “others”.
I used the link and posted it to our blog and our social media sites and was pleasantly surprised to get and few of my network contacts reach out letting me know that they saw the interview and read it. What a great way to connect with my own contacts - through a different lens that is pointing at me instead!!

This fascinated me and I started to think about all the amazing people that we meet every day and the stories we are hearing. Why not create something that would allow them to connect and share with others.
We are taking this one as a project and Our Goal is to provide a positive venue where business professionals can shine their light for others to see, grow and advance professionally.
I do hope you enjoy it!
